Airplex
The Airplex initiative is designed to take advantage of the unique development opportunity presented by the area surrounding the Dayton International Airport. The City of Dayton will leverage the following factors in order to attract hospitality and distribution businesses as well as other companies to the area surrounding the airport:
- Dayton's central location
- Ease of air and highway access
- Cargo distribution capabilities
As the 11th largest cargo airport in the U.S., the Dayton International Airport (DIA) holds nearly unlimited growth potential. The CitiPlan Airplex initiative seeks to develop the area surrounding the DIA as a unique, valuable asset for the City of Dayton and the surrounding region.
The Airplex Development Corporation (ADC) has already been created to manage airport-based economic development and is working toward the following goals:
- Solidify the DIA as an important air cargo and distribution hub
- Provide additional real estate development opportunities near the DIA
- Generate more international trade opportunities
- Create a business- and development-friendly atmosphere at both the DIA and City Hall
