Miami-Jacobs Career College Relocates with Help of Direct Loan from CityWide

Miami Jacobs Success Story

With the help of a direct loan from CityWide Development Corporation, Miami-Jacobs Career College graduated last fall from the building in which it had spent nearly three decades, and moved into its new home at the corner of Second Street and North Patterson Boulevard. The college offers degree and diploma programs in Business, Computer Technologies, and Allied Health.

The new location features more than 35,000 square feet of classroom and administrative space, with 3,600 square feet dedicated to a restaurant/deli. Located at 110 N. Patterson Blvd., just one block from Fifth Third Field, the building was the former home of Ameri-Comm Communications, and also housed an auto dealership at one time.

Miami Jacobs Success Story

Miami-Jacobs’ former location on E. Second Street was not capable of handling the new wireless network the college needed to install to keep its programs up to date technologically. The building’s owner spent $2.5 million in renovations, resulting in a high-tech, student-friendly space with an open, contemporary feel. New office and classroom equipment is unique, yet functional. “Everyone loves the new location,” reports Darlene Waite, President and CEO of the college.

Bank One also provided financial assistance on the project. Waite expressed her appreciation for the collaboration between CityWide and Bank One, who worked together to provide the funding to create the distinctive experience for the staff, faculty and students of Miami-Jacobs Career College.
