Dayton’s New “ORION Solution” is Improving Neighborhoods
The City of Dayton’s new “ORION Solution” began in April 2006. ORION stands for Organizing Resources to Improve Our Neighborhoods. The ORION project focuses on neighborhoods where residents’ quality of life is compromised by problems such as littering, drugs, and excessive noise. The first neighborhoods targeted under the program are Riverdale, Santa Clara and Wolf Creek/Old Dayton View.

Three New Businesses Open in Oregon District
On Wednesday, June 28, 2006, officials from the City of Dayton, the Oregon District Business Association and CityWide Development Corporation held a ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the opening of three new Oregon District establishments: Pacchia Prima, 5th Street Wine & Deli, and Coco’s Bistro. The three projects represent a combined investment of almost $900,000 and the creation of 40 new jobs.

City Approves Convention Center Improvements
In May 2006, the Dayton City Commission approved a $2.1 million contract that will result in major improvements and updates to the façade of the Dayton Convention Center. The Commission approved the contract with the Butt Construction Company to perform the bulk of the façade repair and replacement work. In addition, a $350,000 purchase order was approved with Daktronics, Inc. to purchase a large color wrap-around LED video sign.
