Zumstein Success Story

Zumstein Renovates Dayton Facility with Help of Direct Loan from CityWide

Zumstein
With the help of a direct loan from CityWide, along with financing from Provident Bank and owner equity, Zumstein Inc. is making major renovations to its 130,000-square-foot facility at 3581-3599 Dayton Park Drive in Dayton. The company is a repeat customer of CityWide, having borrowed or received funds from three different CityWide-administered programs in 1997, when it purchased the building now being renovated.

Headquartered in Lewisburg, Ohio, Zumstein provides a variety of transportation and logistical services, including trucking, distribution and warehousing. Offering full truckload service to the 48 contiguous states and to Ontario, Canada, Zumstein’s major clients include Iams and Proctor & Gamble.

The Dayton Park Drive facility, located in the heart of the Dayton’s Well Field Protection Area, is Zumstein’s primary distribution center. The most costly of the renovations underway there is the installation of a new roof. Another major project included is the renovation of office areas to allow for the transfer of certain administrative staff members from Lewisburg to Dayton. Together, all of the planned renovations are expected to cost $500,000.

“The movement of jobs to Dayton was a major factor for CityWide as we were considering the loan to Zumstein,” said Brian Heitkamp, economic development loan officer for CityWide. “Not only is the company moving part of their main operation to Dayton; the move is likely to result in the creation of other new Dayton-based jobs as well.”

Deborah and Ed Zumstein co-own Zumstein Inc., and both predict continued growth for all areas of the business. “Over the years, CityWide’s loan programs have been critical to helping us grow,” said Ed Zumstein. “I would definitely encourage other companies, especially those located in the Well Field Protection Area, to look into CityWide’s services.”
